In winter, life rests in its roots, to gain energy for a new cycle of growth in spring. We are allowed to relax for a while and take space for ourselves. In order to restore our balance, it is important that we withdraw now and then and take time for moments of rest and reflection. Winter is made for silence, inner peace and relaxation. Precisely because everything is still for a while, you are invited to pay attention to body and mind. To rest for a while, find balance, build up energy and become still. Therefore, try to make room for By going outside, you will discover in winter that emptiness and happiness go well together. Reflection is very natural in December, in which we look back on the past year and look ahead to the new year. With the hustle and bustle of all the holidays in December on top of your daily work, it is important to consciously choose moments of rest.

This month we will specifically focus on our kidneys and bladder, or rather the energy channels of these organs. If there is a lot of stress, imbalance can occur, which can result in physical or psychological complaints. We will go into this further in our workshop.

  • Relaxation; Positive stress is good for us, but too much stress for a long time can lead to complaints. During our workshops you will experience how you can best relax so that your body can recover.
  • Inspiration; With our workshops, newsletters and information on our website, we constantly provide you with knowledge and inspiration.
  • Action; By actively participating in the program, you learn new things and you can experience that this has a positive effect on your health and vitality. This way you increase your natural resistance and stimulate your self-healing ability.

This way you achieve the best result yourself!

How you apply the program is of course your own choice. Below we give advice on how you can best apply the program, if you want to achieve a good result for yourself and/or if you participate in the study of the Amsterdam UMC.

    1. It is important that your body and mind can relax daily. This through a daily meditation, alternating with a yoga session 1 to 2 times a week. Yoga provides relaxation and flexibility.
    2. Be inspired by the theme workshop, as our monthly theme forms the basis of our monthly program and makes you aware of what you can do yourself to increase your natural resistance and strengthen your self-healing capacity.
    3. Every month you will also learn some effective and easy exercises. It is important to spend 5 to 10 minutes every day on these exercises, for example at the beginning of the day or when watching television.
    4. Participate in the breathing workshop every month and give it some attention during your activities during the day. By breathing consciously, your energy increases and you can release any tension more easily.
    5. Follow the monthly nutrition workshop on how to eat tasty and healthy food at the same time. A good balance in your diet contributes to your health.
    6. Follow the workshop loving touch and experience what this means for you.
    7. Be inspired by the Gestalt Art therapy workshop.

Practical advice

  • Make it a habit and put fixed times in your agenda where possible, for example, resolve to do a short meditation in the morning after waking up or spend 5 minutes on the exercises.
  • Another option is to always listen to a meditation or do yoga before you go to sleep. If you plan some activities like this, you already have a basis and it becomes a habit.
  • In summary: try to do something good for your health every day and become more and more aware of what you can do yourself to improve your health and vitality. It’s also a kind of daily “mindset” of “I’m going to improve my health now”. Our program supports you in this. Sufficient exercise and being outside, preferably in a natural environment, are also important for your health. 

Participation in Amsterdam UMC study

If you participate in the study of the Amsterdam UMC or the study of the Self-Examination Network Netherlands (ZONN), you are supposed to spend about half an hour every day on the program.
