During the moments of rest in December, did you gain insight into what you want to do differently in the new year?

Peace is in the little things in life. With a book on the couch, quietly looking at the moon in the sky, walking alone in the forest. The moments in between, they can be a source of peace. We have forgotten how to stand still and wonder. Experience a moment of peace and become aware of what you would like to change in your life.

How can you let go of the “must” and choose more often for to “want”?

In the winter when nature rests and slumbers, it is a good time for us as humans to focus inward, so that our feelings and intuition are given space. Become aware of what you would like, that offers perspective for this new year.

This month we will specifically focus on our kidneys and bladder, or rather the energy channels of these organs, also called meridians. Good cooperation of these meridians is important for our health. If there is a lot of stress, an imbalance can occur, which can result in physical or psychological complaints. We will discuss this further in our theme workshop.

With the activities below in the month of January, we provide you with tools and inspiration with which you can improve your own health and vitality.

Theme workshop january

During our theme workshop we discuss our monthly theme and you become aware of what you can do yourself to improve your health and vitality. We pay specific attention to our kidneys and bladder, or rather the energy channels of these organs, also called meridians. These are our rivers of energy, which run through our body and influence all cells and organs. The good flow of energy in our meridians is important for our health. If there is too much stress, an imbalance can occur, which can result in physical and/or psychological complaints. You will also learn some practical exercises for at home.

This joint and guided meditation helps you to relax your body and mind. You become aware of your breathing and make contact with your body. You feel the nourishing energy of the earth and the golden light of the sun flowing through your body. In this way you work on improving your health & vitality and afterwards you are wonderfully relaxed. By meditating together, we can experience a sense of connection with each other.

Body Vital Yoga

This Yoga session is based on calm and soft movements in the postures. Calm movements create little resistance and ensure that you can release tension. There is a lot of attention for our breathing. The relaxation and movement during the exercises improve the flexibility of your body. Through yoga, the energy in your meridians and body flows better. This yoga session is easy for everyone to follow and you can do it at home in your own environment. Enjoy it and improve your vitality.

Improve your energy meditation

This joint and guided meditation helps you to calm your body and mind and improve your energy. Our chakras are the energy centers of our body. We connect with the nourishing energy of the earth and the golden light of the sun and let it flow through our chakras and our body. Enjoy this nourishing meditation. Breathing workshop

Jos Derksen, breathwork specialist, teaches you breathing exercises in this workshop that help you to bypass your thoughts and get closer to your emotions. Good breathing is important for your physical and mental health. With proper breathing, your brain and muscles get enough oxygen. This ensures, for example, that you can move or concentrate on a certain task. You can also reduce your stress symptoms with good breathing.

More vitality with Purehealthy food

Sophie Luderer has a lot of knowledge about nutrition and lets you experience that healthy and tasty food go very well together. She explains how healthy food looks like, how much protein is good for example (it fits nicely with kidneys, how much water to drink and how to measure that and how often to eat per day. And then the emphasis on how you can keep up those good intentions of drinking more water, snacking less, not being tempted by a quick ready-made snack.

Gestalt-Art workshop

Herman van Wietmarschen, Gestalt-Art therapist, teaches you more about yourself in your work environment in this workshop by doing creative experiments from Gestalt-Art therapy. Gestalt-Art therapy is a holistic, experience-oriented psychotherapy aimed at developing awareness, better contact and more self-direction in the here and now. This workshop is an introduction to a number of working methods, such as guided visualization, systemic work and working with images. We will look at how you feel at work, where your strength lies, your dreams and your work

This jointly and guided meditation together helps you to relax your body and mind. We also pay attention to how you can live with more compassion for yourself. You may be who you are. What are you struggling with, anger, frustration, pain, sadness. Feel appreciation for yourself as a unique and valuable person. We connect with the nourishing energy of the earth and the golden light of the sun and let it flow through our bodies. By meditating together, we can experience a sense of connection with each other.

Our program is based on the following 4 pillars:

  • Awareness; It is important to become aware of what is going on in your body and mind. Based on this, you can make more conscious choices. This is a growth process.
  • Relaxation; Positive stress is good for us, but too much stress for a long time can lead to complaints. During our workshops you will experience how you can best relax so that your body can recover.
  • Inspiration; With our workshops, newsletters and information on our website, we constantly provide you with knowledge and inspiration.
  • Action; By actively participating in the program, you learn new things and you can experience that this has a positive effect on your health and vitality. This way you increase your natural resistance and stimulate your self-healing ability.

This way you achieve the best result yourself!

How you apply the program is of course your own choice. Below we give advice on how you can best apply the program, if you want to achieve a good result for yourself and/or if you participate in the study of the Amsterdam UMC.

    1. It is important that your body and mind can relax daily. This through a daily meditation, alternating with a yoga session 1 to 2 times a week. Yoga provides relaxation and flexibility.
    2. Be inspired by the theme workshop, as our monthly theme forms the basis of our monthly program and makes you aware of what you can do yourself to increase your natural resistance and strengthen your self-healing capacity.
    3. Every month you will also learn some effective and easy exercises. It is important to spend 5 to 10 minutes every day on these exercises, for example at the beginning of the day or when watching television.
    4. Participate in the breathing workshop every month and give it some attention during your activities during the day. By breathing consciously, your energy increases and you can release any tension more easily.
    5. Follow the monthly nutrition workshop on how to eat tasty and healthy food at the same time. A good balance in your diet contributes to your health.
    6. Follow the workshop loving touch and experience what this means for you.
    7. Be inspired by the Gestalt Art therapy workshop.

Practical advice

  • Make it a habit and put fixed times in your agenda where possible, for example, resolve to do a short meditation in the morning after waking up or spend 5 minutes on the exercises.
  • Another option is to always listen to a meditation or do yoga before you go to sleep. If you plan some activities like this, you already have a basis and it becomes a habit.
  • In summary: try to do something good for your health every day and become more and more aware of what you can do yourself to improve your health and vitality. It’s also a kind of daily “mindset” of “I’m going to improve my health now”. Our program supports you in this. Sufficient exercise and being outside, preferably in a natural environment, are also important for your health. 

Participation in Amsterdam UMC study

If you participate in the study of the Amsterdam UMC or the study of the Self-Examination Network Netherlands (ZONN), you are supposed to spend about half an hour every day on the program.
